Festa das Chagas (Feast of the Holy Wounds)

Between 26 April and 12 May, the town of Sesimbra is staging its traditional Festa das Chagas (Feast of the Holy Wounds), built around the religious celebrations held in honour of Our Lord Jesus of the Wounds.

The party begins on the night of 26 April with a concert by HMB. Cuca Roseta, one of fado’s leading voices, will be performing on 4 May, the municipal holiday. Mia Rose, Eterna Galé, The Army Light Orchestra, a special fado night, a folk music night and a DJ night complete the line-up for this feast.

There will also be an amusements area, seafood stalls run by local associations, offering dishes based on the fish and seafood caught off the Sesimbra coast, an open-air eating area and stands run by organisations and businesses involved in the sea and fishing. The municipal council will also be promoting the Sesimbra and Yes Sesimbra brands.

Music from Grupeto do Coreto, Bom Dia Alegria and the Tocadores do Comércio will liven up the festival grounds.
