The Castle of Sesimbra, one of the region’s most iconic monuments, will be the finish line for the 3rd edition of the Arrábida Classic – Santa Casa Games Cup, to be held on 17 March, Sunday. The contest will be disputed by all of Portugal’s professional teams and various teams from other countries, in a total of about 175 cyclists.
Part of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) agenda, the race starts at 11:40 h, in Palmela, passes through the municipality of Setúbal and ends between 16:00 and 16:30 h at the Castle of Sesimbra, in a mixed route of 182.3 kilometres.
The Arrábida Classic was created in 2017, as part of a partnership between the Portuguese Cycling Federation, the company Lima & Limão Cycling Services and the municipalities of Sesimbra, Palmela and Setúbal, to promote cycling and the Arrábida region’s cycling activities.
The 5th Granfondo of Arrábida will be held on the same day as part of the race’s structure, for which about five thousand participants are expected. The race is scheduled to start at 8:30 h at the Castle of Sesimbra and will end at the same location in the early afternoon. The race is split into two routes: the Granfondo, of 130 kilometres, and the Mediofondo, of 89 kilometres.
